A nice day to go for a so-called "poisonous and edible fungis, toadstools and mushrooms walk" in the neighborhood of the small village Vijlen. There were so many toadstools that we had to combine a few pictures else this post would have been to long. It is walk nr. 113 from the website Wandelgids zuidlimburg.

Good to know:
Distance: 9,5 km
Rate: easy
Map (incl. elevation information): Vijlen
GPS-track available for download: yes

As always all photo's can be enlarged by clicking on them.

Start is in the small village of Vijlen itself but within a few minutes you are walking through meadows with lovely views.

The neo-gothic and catholic St. Martinus church, which is located in the center of the village, is known as the highest located church in The Netherlands

Very quickly we stumble on the first of many many toadstools to come. Unfortunately we are not familiar with all their names, but if you happen to know one of them (or maybe all?), then please leave us a comment.

The track is for a big part going through a forest, called "Het Vijlener Bos" but now and then you are provided with views overlooking the landscape.

This forest is full of toadstools, unbelievable. Where ever you look, you will find one.

Finally we leave the forest behind us and can see the Vijlener church in the distance. The last part of this track goes through meadows again, where one can watch for cattle. This particular cow is scratching its back under an apple tree.

A nice walk, especially in autumn ofcourse when the toadstools are there.
